The end of a week, the beginning of a weekend.

Aaah... finally made it through the week.  It's been such an intense week that, when I sat down on the couch after dinner my mind shut down... quite literally. It's a weird sensation to zone out so badly that when you regain awareness you forget where you were for a minute. :-/

In any case, I'm glad the weekend is here. No real plans, just tinkering 'round the house a bit.  Maybe I'll take another stab at the damn weeds in the yard. Here in Colorado we have two kinds of summer - drought and monsoon. This year is a monsoon summer, so instead of brown grass I have grass hidden in 10 varieties of indigenous weeds.

Found that the ham radio bug was biting again, so I spent a little time last weekend putting my antenna up again, at least temporarily. Need to find a 24 foot extension ladder and enlist a friend's help to get it to the roof, but I'm good to go for now. Spent a few minutes last night talking to a gentleman in Maryland and *almost* was able to get through to New Zealand. In today's global Internet, it's not really impressive to talk to someone across long distances, but there's something attractive to me with this "old" technology. Being able to talk halfway across the planet with nothing but RF energy is, for me at least, still pretty damn cool. :-)

If you're a ham, feel free to give me a shout if you hear me. My callsign is NØRHA. I'm usually on sometime between 0300 and 0800 UTC, most likely on 20 or 40 meters. I'd be happy to chat with you for a while.

Got a few things to record this weekend, including several auditions and a promo for Giant Gnome's Star Trek: Outpost. Want to get as much as I can out of the way this coming week and next so I can focus on some quality time at the end of the month with my wife, Chelle.  Hard to believe that 20 years of marriage has passed already - doesn't seem so long to me. Time really *does* fly.

Hope y'all have a good weekend, wherever you are... ;-)
